Fields of Imagination
Earth-based art by Victoria Holmes
Soil to Soul
Fields of Imagination is the earth-based art practice of Devon artist Victoria Holmes.
Working with soil chromatography and pigments gathered from the land, she creates place-based artworks that reveal the hidden patterns and intelligence of living soil.
Each work begins with soil gathered from meaningful landscapes. Through the chromatography process the material itself generates the image, transforming earth into visual records of landscape, ecology and time.
Glastonbury - a sacred pair
A series created from soils gathered at Glastonbury Tor, made with water from the Chalice Well (feminine) and the White Well (masculine) on the full moon of 13 April 2025.
Coming Next: Tintagel
The next collection will be created from soils gathered at Tintagel and the nearby waterfall on the same full moon one year after the Glastonbury works.
